The perfect fit: Students seeking flexibility and portable monitors

In 2017, 800,000 people studied, trained or volunteered abroad. If you are one of them you’ll probably find yourself confronted with many questions – from housing to technology to take with you.

When traveling or moving abroad, flexibility is key

When traveling or moving abroad, flexibility is key

When moving to a different city, you’ll probably consider taking only the most essential items with you – especially if it’s for a temporary period such as studying for a semester within the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) program. When it comes to technical equipment, you will probably only take a laptop or tablet, which are not only vital for your studies but often also represent your entire entertainment centre to watch movies in your free time or Skype with friends and loved ones at home.

However, using only the screen of your laptop or tablet for studying is less than ideal. Businesses already acknowledge the fact that multi-monitor setups significantly increase productivity and implement 2 or even 3-monitor setups for their employees. So as a busy student willing to make the most of your semester abroad, you might want to consider the same strategy.

Taking digital notes while other documents are open, working on assignments as a team on a single laptop, creating and showing presentations, coding a program and testing it: all these tasks are certainly doable on a single laptop display but wouldn’t all this be a lot easier and more comfortable with an extra display?

The ideal solution for your studies abroad

The ideal solution for your studies abroad

Meet AOC’s portable monitors, the I1601FWUX (USB Type-C) and the I1659FWUX (USB 3.0 Type-A w/DisplayLink).

More viewing space – anywhere you go

More viewing space – anywhere you go

These thin, light and portable 15.6” Full HD displays easily fit into your regular laptop bag or a briefcase and can be carried around (and taken on board a train or a plane for example) without you noticing its weight or size. The roughly 800 g weight of the I1601FWUX makes it a breeze to carry during commute to schools or universities. Both 15.6” portable displays are equipped with an IPS panel that offer you wide viewing angles, Full HD resolution and a fast 5 ms response time.

Thanks to its USB-C port, the I1601FWUX simultaneously transfers the display signal (over DisplayPort Alternate Mode) and power to the display with a single USB-C cable. Simply connect it to your laptop and you’re ready to go. The included smart cover protects the display while you’re on the go and transforms into a foldable stand when needed.

The I1659FWUX on the other hand comes equipped with a USB 3.0 Type-A port and a foldable stand (in two different angles) plus an auto-pivot function. The included DisplayLink software enables transferring the display signal and powering the display with a single, dual connector USB cable, too. For both displays, this means there is no power adapter required at all!

A multi-monitor solution with the flexibility you need

Thanks to the these portable monitors’ size and flexibility, you can take them to libraries, cafes or your mates’ dorm rooms to share your display with fellow students and simply enjoy the extra screen real estate and to study more efficiently.

If you are currently living abroad or planning to, you should definitely experience productive, enjoyable multi-monitor setups even when you’re away from the comfort of your home. Once your time abroad comes to an end, you can call it a day (or a semester) and pack up your belongings, including your portable monitor, and go to your next destination or back home.
